Gaven State School has a rich outdoor education program. The program is long-standing and has great support from children, parents and staff along with the wider community. It provides our students with unique and unforgettable learning experiences. Students face challenges beyond those possible in their everyday school environment including taking responsibility for themselves and the surroundings while learning life skills and values including leadership, teamwork and tolerance.
Each year, students in Years 4-6 participate in camping programs as a part of the curriculum.
In 2017 students attended the following camps:
Year 4 – Runaway Bay Sports Centre
Year 5 – Tallebudgera Beach School
Year 6 – Canberra
These camps may differ slightly each year dependent on if the Canberra trip is held. Each year our Year 6 students have been offered a Canberra Trip in conjunction with their studies in the areas of Government and Democracy.
