Welcome

Gaven State School Parents & Citizens Association would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our school community.

The Gaven State School Parents & Citizens Association is a group of school community people which include parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers and staff as well members of the local community who are working together to provide opportunities for the benefit of our children.

The P&C provides a tuckshop and uniform shop for the convenience of parents as well as raising funds to support students and the schools’ programs.

How have P&C funds helped in the past?

We have provided funds for a variety of resources for the school. These include sports equipment, computers and technology, literacy and numeracy resources, playground equipment, music program, signage/banners and student achievement gifts.

Volunteering your time can show your child the value of community work and invoke a sense of community spirit. Volunteering is a personally rewarding experience and happy parent equals happy child.

How can I help?

There are many areas that parents can help in, such as:

Volunteering in our Tuckshop/Uniform shop

Some parents help weekly and other help once a month.

Helping with fundraising activities

You decide how much time you are able to give to help, be a part of our discussion group or to assist or run a fundraising activity.

Attend meetings

P&C meetings are held in the school staffroom every third Tuesday of the month at 5.30 pm (unless advised otherwise in our school newsletter).

The meetings held are informative and include a report from our Principal, Mr Phillip Carleton. Topics presented could include curriculum related planned excursions, bus travel, school safety, behaviour management, fundraising and many more. Parents are able to take part in the decision process.

To contact the P&C you can email them at pandc@gavenss.eq.edu.au
