Special Education Program
Special education programs are delivered based on an inclusive model reflecting a team approach involving classroom and specialist teachers, teacher aides and parents.
English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)
English as an additional language or dialect students (previously known as ESL) are supported at Gaven State School. Children from a non-English speaking background are assessed to decide if individual support to improve English listening, speaking, reading or writing is necessary. A visiting specialist EAL/D teacher comes to Gaven to provide that support, working with children, teachers and teachers’ aides.
