Guidance and counselling services are provided directly to students and their families.

Learning Support

Gaven State School’s learning support program provides for our diverse range of learners and their needs.

Special Education Program

Special education programs are delivered based  on an inclusive model reflecting a team approach involving classroom and specialist teachers, teacher aides and parents.

English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)

English as an additional language or dialect students (previously known as ESL) are supported at Gaven State School. Children from a non-English speaking background are assessed to decide if individual support to improve English listening, speaking, reading or writing is necessary. A visiting specialist EAL/D teacher comes to Gaven to provide that support, working with children, teachers and teachers’ aides.
