Gaven State School has the services of a Guidance Officer three days a fortnight each Wednesday and every second Thursday.
Guidance and counselling services are provided directly to students and their families. Our Guidance Counsellor works very closely with administration and the other educational support workers based in the school including support teachers, special education teachers.
Services focus on assisting students to achieve to their potential in the most appropriate educational setting. They may work directly with the student or with the student’s teacher, support personnel, family, other specialists or professionals from other agencies depending on the issues to be resolved and the age of the student.
Referral to see the Guidance Officer is prioritised through the school’s Special Needs Committee (SNC).
