Special Education Programs (SEP) at our school are delivered based on an inclusive model which reflects a team approach involving the classroom and specialist teachers, teacher aides and special education teachers. Program delivery involves the planning and delivery of appropriate adjustments in order to meet the needs of individual learners.
The elements of an individual’s program may be delivered in the classroom or in alternative settings which best suit the goals of that program. The recognition of individual differences of learners is key to informing program decisions while maintaining the principles of inclusive education.
Children eligible for support under the Education Adjustment Program must have been diagnosed/verified with an Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech Language Impairment (SLI), Physical Impairment (PI), Vision Impairment (VI) and/or Hearing Impairment (HI).

The Special Education Program (SEP) at Gaven State School provides support to children (Prep-Year 7), parents/carers and teachers through:
Co-operative Planning Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
Alternative Programs (Travel training, Life Skills, gardening and cooking program, Mind Up Program)
Inclusion of children in mainstream classes according to level of need
Small group withdrawal in the SEP facilities.
